About Young Frankenstein

Based on the classic 1974 movie, a new production of Mel Brook’s Young Frankenstein has it's London premiere at the Garrick Theatre

A spoof of Mary Shelley's gothic horror story, in Young Frankenstein, the neurosurgeon grandson of Victor Frankenstein has spent his life trying to escape his family history, even going to the lengths of altering the pronunciation of his name to Fronkensteen! However, things change when he inherits the family castle…he inadvertently comes across his grandfather's private journal and finds the entrance to his grandfather’s secret laboratory. Starting to replicate Victor’s experiments, he steals the corpse of a recently executed criminal, gives him a new brain and manages to creates one unique monster in the process!

Young Frankenstein opened on Broadway in 2007, has a book by Thomas Meehan and is directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, both of whom collaborated with Mel Brooks on the smash-hit stage adaptation of The Producers.
