Sienna Miller and Jack O’ Connell star in a new production of Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, at the Apollo Theatre for a strictly limited season.
One of Williams's best-known works and often cited as his personal favourite, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was premiered on Broadway in 1955. It is set on a sweltering night in Mississippi as the family gather for the 65th birthday of plantation owner Big Daddy. His son Brick (Jack O’ Connell) and his beautiful but frustrated wife Maggie (Sienna Miller) are fighting to get their share of Big Daddy’s estate, but as the evening progresses the truth about their strained relationship come to a turbulent climax and many dark secrets are revealed.
Sienna Miller is best known for her many film roles including Layer Cake, Alfie, Factory Girl, The Edge of Love, Foxcatcher and American Sniper. She has previously appeared on stage in As You Like It (Wyndham's), Flare Path (Haymarket) and After Miss Julie and Cabaret on Broadway. Jack O’ Connell rose to fame in the TV series Skins. His subsequent movie credits include Starred Up, Unbroken and Money Monster.
This new production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is directed by Benedict Andrews, best known for his acclaimed production of A Streetcar Named Desire at the Young Vic.
