Andrew Scott stars in the title role of the acclaimed Almeida Theatre production of Hamlet, transferring into the Harold Pinter Theatre for a strictly limited season
Shakespeare's great play is set in Elsinore in Denmark. Hamlet, Prince of Denmark is grieving for his dead father, although his mother has already married again, taking his uncle Claudius for a husband. One night, the ghost of Hamlet's father appears and tells his son a tale of betrayal and Hamlet sets about his bloody revenge in order to get to the truth.
Best known as Jim Moriarty in the BBC series Sherlock, Andrew Scott’s numerous other theatre roles include Cock, Design for Living and Birdland in London and The Vertical Hour in New York,
Hamlet is directed by Robert Icke, who has previously directed the acclaimed productions of Mary Stuart, Uncle Vanya, Oresteia, Mr Burns and 1984 for the Almeida Theatre.
